Ingredients:
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp (25g) rice flour
- 1 tbsp (12g) sugar
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) baking soda
- 3/4 cup (180ml) water
- 1 pinch (1g) salt
- 3-4 (450g) ripe Nendram bananas
- 2 cups (480ml) vegetable oil
Instructions:
- Peel the Nendram bananas. Slice them lengthwise into three long, thin, uniform strips. Note: Uniform strips ensure they all finish cooking at the same time
- Grab a mixing bowl. Combine all purpose flour, rice flour, sugar, turmeric powder, baking soda, water, and salt.
- Whisk the batter vigorously. Keep going until it's smooth and looks like heavy cream.
- Pour vegetable oil into your pan. Heat until a small drop of batter sizzles and rises instantly.
- Take a banana strip. Dip it into the batter until it is fully encased.
- Carefully slide the strip into the oil. Do not overcrowd the pan or the temperature will drop.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes per side. Wait until the crust is golden brown and the bubbles slow down.
- Remove with a slotted spoon. Drain the Banana Fritters on paper towels to remove residual oil.
