Ingredients:
- 2 large (approx. 1 lb / 450g) Granny Smith apples
- 1 tbsp (15ml) lemon juice
- 8 oz (225g) caramel bits or morsels
- 1 tbsp (15ml) heavy cream
- 1/2 cup (60g) crushed pretzels
- 1/2 cup (60g) chopped toasted walnuts
- 1/2 cup (85g) mini chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Using a melon baller or a small knife, create 20 uniform apple spheres. Toss them in a bowl with lemon juice to stop oxidation, then use a paper towel to blot every single sphere until completely dry.
- Place the caramel bits and heavy cream in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each burst, until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
- Insert a toothpick into the center of an apple sphere. Gently dip it into the caramel, twirling it to ensure full coverage.
- Lift the apple out and let the excess caramel drip off for 3 seconds before placing the bite into a mini muffin liner.
- While the caramel is still wet, immediately sprinkle your choice of crushed pretzels, nuts, or chocolate chips onto the top.
- Let the treats set at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.
